Welcome to the Royal Berkshire Hospital. We hope that this guide will provide you
with useful information about your stay with us.
While we want to offer you the best possible healthcare it is equally... more important that
your stay with us is as comfortable as possible.
Each ward has its own routine – our staff will talk to you about the ward that you are
staying on but if you have any questions or concerns please ask. Our nursing staff are
here to support you throughout your stay with us.
It is important to every member of staff that we get things right for our patients and
their families. If you have any comments about what other information patients might
find useful to have in this bedside folder – or other ideas on how we can improve our
service – please do let one of the ward staff know.
When you visit any of our wards or outpatient areas, you will be asked one question
“How likely are you to recommend this area to friends and family if they needed
similar care or treatment?” This is the NHS Friends and Family Test which all NHS
organisations are required to ask of patients. Please spare a few moments of your time
to choose one of the six answer options and to provide any further comments
regarding your patient experience.
You can also fill in a feedback section at the back of the ‘Talk to us’ leaflet – these are
available on the ward or in the Information Zone on Level 1 in the main entrance.
Alternatively, you can share your thoughts with others by leaving feedback on the
NHS Choices website or in one of the comments boxes around the hospital. Your
comments and suggestions are important to us and we do act upon the feedback we
I dread having to go to RBH. As an Out-patient parking is a nightmare and I feel stressed out before I even get there. Having been an In-Patient 3 times my experience is that the quality of the Nursing... more staff varies from excellent to dangerously incompetent. For example, always check that you are being given the correct medication and dosage; it often isn't the case. The whole building site is a dreadful maze. It needs tearing down and rebuilding. I've been an In-patient at North Hants hospital Basingstoke, Heart Hospital London and St. Barts London. RBH is a poor fourth in my ranking.
Just returned home after orthopaedic surgery and I can honestly say the experience was first rate. Chesterman unit, theatre and Redlands Ward staff were friendly efficient and hard working whilst maintaining... more such a calm and relaxing environment for patients.
The ward and washrooms were also
spotlessly clean and meals tasty.
Thankyou everyone for making this experience better than could ever be expected.
